Deadly Drone Strikes Kill 23 in Sudan’s El-Obeid Amid Ongoing Civil War
Destructive drone strikes which have been carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), a paramilitary force, have claimed the lives of 23 people in el-Obeid, an important city in Sudan. These drone strikes have taken place on targets such as a funeral ceremony which was being held in a local graveyard where four people were killed; areas that have residential buildings and even an area in an airport, in addition to hitting a food carrying truck. El-Obeid is a significant frontline in the three-year old civil war of Sudan, since having control over the Kordofan region is key to controlling oil sources of the country.
